Finding Freedom in the New...
Freeing...or Fixed...?
In many, many ways the virus has changed us all; whether we like it or not...
Many of us have been confined in lockdowns, stranded overseas, have been hospitalised; or lost nearest & dearest.
We've been compelled into a stillness, not only of the body, the mind - so stressful or alarming to some; we've also been compelled to get still with our soul & be within our inner, more immediate world - that inner world often ignored by our focus on the external - whether that be our work, our home, or our external self - we've ignored our soul's attempts to bring us back to our inner world, our vital inner life.
It's almost flippant to write that this was in the planet's Sacred Contract - a Divine setup long overdue; one of an inescapable, very clear demonstration of the interconnectedness between all & the damage one can cause the all. A clarion call that could no longer be ignored.
What do we do with this new life calling us to participate...?
We can't go back, the path is no longer in place; our thought processes, our emotional perspective has now shifted, who we are as individuals has totally shifted; no matter how much we may deny or ignore it. How many of us have deeply examined our lives before Covid...? Looked closely & without judgement or shame at what life consisted of...where was our focus...did we have ownership & autonomy...or were we "owned" by schedules, meetings, deadlines, others agendas...? Were we joyful & taking that time needed to focus on what was needed to rebalance...or instead rushing to meet demands or expectations...?
Self care is often spoken about - usually accompanied by a glass of wine & chocolate & a bubble bath, or switching off our phones & computers for a timeline cleanse; & actions may be necessary in order to nurture our mental health. Rarely is it spoken about that sometimes self care is activated by a small but powerful word - NO...Or a taking time to do a very deliberate check in with our life to see what is nurturing & feeding us going forward & what is keeping us circling in old, stale, or toxic energy.
We know what dream or vision boards represent; the job, relationship, energy & life we want to manifest...but how do we go about doing the opposite...removing that which holds us back, no longer serves in order to claim our potential...?
A "Death" board can be created in the very same way as a dream or vision board, however in many many ways it is far more challenging an undertaking. We have long established patterns & relationships that have aided our growth & now no longer play a healthy role, & although we may be "uncomfortably comfortable", perhaps feeling a sense of frustration or resentment with them but we still hold onto them.
There are many reasons we hold onto old patterns, behaviours, relationships & one of them is familiarity. Even if that very familiarity is making us uncertain or unhappy or frozen in place, we know it, we understand it, we get how to navigate it; we hold onto it.
Creating a Death board can be an immensely rewarding & freeing experience...so...how to go about it...? We can keep it as simple or as elaborate as you like - it's YOUR board & YOUR experiences that will be placed on it.
Give yourself some time to ponder what you need to surrender in order to bring fresh energy, new opportunities & people into your life. Do you need to surrender old patterns, fears, resentments, negative self talk, realtionships that are way past their expiry date, or are toxic? Take you time with this; it is your journey.
Ask yourself as you work through them what you've learned from them; it could be that you've discovered you need an entirely new career, or a new location for that long overdue fresh start, or that you'll no longer be in realtionships that arent life affirming or life enhancing...?
Perhaps use a darker coloured board as your base to represent a "surrendering". On the top of the board write: "I thank & surrender what has gone before, with my gratitude & wisdom
I now close this door.
Let no reversal trouble me, as is my will so mote it be"
Write, draw, or cut out & paste words, pictures or symbols & place them onto your board; fill or leave spaces on the board - you may well come back to it more than once. When you have completed your board, once again thank the experiences & lessons; seeing the lessons as brightly shining jewels reminding you of the progress you've made in your growth.
Place the board where only you can see it for 6 weeks, then light a white candle, once again farewelling these experiences. You can then dispose of the board in your own way....
Please DON'T place it in water such a pond, lake or ocean (pollution)
